Educational Losses due to the War in Ukraine

Education is one of the most affected sectors in terms of losses. As of August 2023, direct losses are estimated at $9.7 billion.

3798 education institutions have suffered bombing and shelling, – and 365 of them have been destroyed completely.

Russia has destroyed more than 200 schools, and another 1600 have been damaged. Thus, every seventh school has fallen victim to the aggressors.

The war conditions pose a great challenge for both teachers and students.

According to the official data, approximately 900,000 children in Ukraine are currently studying remotely due to the inability to attend schools due to the war.
