Close the sky over Ukraine

6 березня 2022

Already for 10 days Russian troops have been attacking the cities and villages of Ukraine. During this nightmare time more than 3 thousand civilians and 32 children have been killed. Missiles and airbombs are destroying residential buildings, kindergartens, orphanages, maternity hospitals, education facilities.

Ukraine has 15 nuclear reactors and Russia has already seized the defunct Chernobyl nuclear power plant during its invasion of Ukraine and attacked Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. In the result of the attack there was a real threat of explosion, 10 times more dangerous than Chornobyl the nuclear power plant was under fire! In such a case this would be the end not only to Ukraine but to the whole Europe.

The Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine appeals to the Education International and the European Trade Union Committee for Education to address to their member organizations with the request to push the governments of NATO member states to close the sky over Ukraine in order to stop the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation.

This would help to save thousands of lives and avoid catastrophic consequences for the whole world.
