BUPL allocates funds to support destroyed kindergartens in Kyiv
Danish Union of Early Childhood and Youth Educators (BUPL) has provided financial assistance to the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine (TUESWU) to support two preschools in Kyiv that were damaged by Russian missile attacks.
During the congress of Danish Union of Early Childhood and Youth Educators (BUPL) in November 2024, the delegates unanimously decided to provide the Ukrainian trade union with financial assistance to support kindergartens in the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts of Kyiv and provide them with educational materials. This decision was a true expression of sincere solidarity with Ukrainian colleagues.
In times of war, when kindergartens are being targeted by enemy drones and missiles, and when they are left without learning facilities, necessary materials, and even toys after shelling, such assistance is extremely important.
«In this difficult time, creating a safe space for children is extremely important, and the daily work of educators deserves deep respect and support. The assistance provided by our Danish colleagues is an important support and significant contribution to improving the working conditions of educators, our Union members. We are sincerely grateful to the Danish Union of Early Childhood and Youth Educators for their solidarity. This support is extremely valuable for us and gives us strength and confidence in achieving our common goals – decent working conditions for our educators and a better future for our children,» said Georgiy Trukhanov, President of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine.
On March 12, 2025, trade union representatives consisting of Olha Chabaniuk, Deputy President of the Trade Union, Oleksandr Yatsun, Chairman of the Kyiv City Organization of the Trade Union, and other representatives of the organizations visited one of the kindergartens to which this financial support was directed - Kyiv Kindergarten No. 295.
The colleagues learned how the purchased equipment helps educators in their daily work and creates a favorable educational environment for children's development.
The colleagues learned how the resource room is equipped, the facilities for which were purchased with the financial assistance of the Danish Trade Union. Educational and tactile toys, construction sets and other materials important for children's development were purchased. According to the director of the kindergarten, this equipment not only greatly facilitates the daily work of educators, but also creates a favorable educational environment and will contribute to the harmonious growth of children with special educational needs.
The provision of material assistance for the operation of kindergartens is not only a practical contribution to the restoration of the educational space, but also an important symbol of support, faith and international solidarity.
«Such support at the international level strengthens our community and inspires us to continue working for the most valuable thing – childhood, which deserves safety, warmth and development,» said Olha Chabaniuk, Vice President of the Trade Union, during her visit to the kindergarten.
