On 1 November 2016, the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine, TUESWU, one of ETUCE’s Ukrainian member organisations, staged the All-Ukrainian protest action in Kiev. The initiative to hold this action was taken by the Kiev city organisation of the education trade union. More than 15,000 education staff all over Ukraine participated in the action.

The system of vocational education and training in Ukraine was on the brink of collapse due to the adoption of the Law of Ukraine on State Budget 2016.

In fact this law restricted the right of young people to choose profession and jeopardise the constitutional right to accessible and free vocational education and training.

On 6 June tens of thousands of trade union members and workers from all over Ukraine gathered in Kyiv for the All-Ukrainian Protest March, pickets and rallies near the Parliament and Government of Ukraine under the slogan «European prices – European wages!»

Almost seven thousand education workers joined the protest action.

On 7 April 2016 one and a half thousand of Ukrainian students took part in the warning rally in the Shevchenko park near the National University of Kyiv. Students stood up to defend the decent future.

The action was coordinated by the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine and supported by the Trade Union of Educational Workers of Ukraine and other sectoral trade unions. Totally trade unions organise more than 1 million students thoughout Ukraine that now are ready to fight for their rights.
