Solidarity: Humanitarian Mission of Spanish Activists to Mykolaiv

In early August 2023, a delegation of trade union and public activists from Spain visited Ukraine on a humanitarian mission.

The Spanish delegation was represented by Isarn Pardes Fuses and Cristina Villaverde Darriba from the «Lucha Internationalista» organization and Francisco Martín Castillo from the General Confederation of Labor.

The «Lucha Internationalista» organization unites representatives of different countries and continents, so in addition to supporting Ukrainian teachers and trade unions, which is so important at this difficult time for Ukraine now, the purpose of the visit of the Spanish colleagues was also to witness the atrocities of war and draw attention outside Ukraine to the terrible events that are taking place in our country since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as well as to the difficult conditions in which Ukrainians have to live and try to fight for their independence.

Representatives of Spanish delegation had the opportunity to see with their own eyes the administrative and educational facilities of Mykolaiv destroyed by russian missile attacks.

They also visited the textile center, where 30 sets of bed linen were purchased to provide humanitarian aid to the trade union members of Mykolaiv region, who lost everything during flooding and enemy shelling.

On August 8, 2023, the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine and the Mykolaiv regional trade union organization organized a meeting of the Spanish delegation with the trade union members of Mykolaiv region who suffered from armed Russian aggression, whose property and houses were destroyed or damaged. People shared their stories and hopes for a sooner victory and peaceful life in their native country with international colleagues.

This visit has once again demonstrated the power of support and solidarity that inspire Ukrainians not to give up and continue the fight.
